Design a Totz Hatz {Give-A-Way}

I have been trying to decide on new color combinations for this very popular visor hat...and I decided the best way to do this is to ask my wonderful customers and future customers what they want....:)

To enter this Give-A-Way here is what you need to do:
1. Become a FAN (liker) of Totz Hatz on FaceBook

2. Choose the colors for your hat from my color chart ~ please let me know in the order you want the colors (i.e. main color, stripe colors)and then add comment under this post. Tell me the size you need your hat made.
Approximate Size Chart:
(measure around the forehead ~ the widest part)

XS - Fits Newborn to 3 months (up to 15")
S - Fits 3-6 months (15" - 16.5")
M - Fits 6-12 months (16" - 18.5")
L - Fits 12- 24/2T (19.5")
XL - Fits 2T-4T (19 - 20")
*circumference of hats is "unstretched" measurement

4. Winner will be chosen by Random.org

5. The winning hat color will be added to my fall/winter line.....:)

6. I will be posting the winner on Totz Hatz FaceBook

7. Give-A-Way starts today (8-4) and will end Friday (8-6) @ 5pm (my time, Illinois)

A Very Special Package {from a very special granddaughter}

I received a VERY SPECIAL package in the mail today! It is Arianna's very first fingerpainting artwork!!! I love it!!! She did a very good job...all by herself! Love the handprints!!!! Now grammie needs to find a nice frame for her artwork and a very special place to display this wonderful art!!

Our Yard is Shaping up! {Gerdes Landscaping}

This year we decided to hire a professional landscaper to help get our yard back in shape. Over the years and due to my husbands back injury....things had become VERY overgrown. I love to do yardwork....but it had become very overwhelming!

We hired Kurt from Gerdes Landscaping! He is wonderful...a very hardworker and so our his employees! If he sees something that needs to be done...he does it! The yard is now a pleasure to walk around...you want to now take the time to stop and look at each planting area. If you live around here in Illinois, I would highly reccommend him. He is from Minonk, Il

Work Has Begun {Yay for the Landscaper}

Through the years that we have lived in our home....the yard has gone through MANY changes. We have had numerous trees, shrubs, flowers and large planting areas. The last few years we have done away with large planting areas, several trees because they have either come done by storms or were so old and decayed we had them removed. Also several years ago we became "boaters"....and I have come to the conclusion....people who boat...do not need big yards and/or lots of planting areas. Right now our yard is mostly perennials of which consist of lots of hostas, daisies and phlox.....plus bushes (that do not need to be trimmed all the time). This year we decided to hire a professional landscaper to help get the yard "back in shape" and "user friendly". He began work today and has lots of work ahead of him...but he and his employee got a great start!! They have re-edged and softened around the planting areas of the house (just one side today)...started digging out and re-edging by our picket fence. This area has been such an eye sore!!! The weeds had taken over and I would start weeding only to get so frustrated and quit!! Decided the "natural look" was not so bad...hehe. He will be putting decorative rock in the area under the fence...will look so much cleaner and also help keep the dirt off the fence. The rest of the areas will be mulch....which we have not done in quite a few years....and certainly does help with weed control! He is wonderful! And I have to admit....it was so nice watching someone else do the weeding and hauling away! Gave me time to paint some lawn furniture...:)

Happy Mothers Day {you will always be a big part of me}

Mothers Day is a very special time! It is a time to let your mom know how much you love her and thank her for all the things she does for you. Mom's are very special people.

My mom was such a cool lady! She passed away on January 13th, 1996....but she will never be forgotten! So much of her lives within me. I still say..."I want to be just like my mom". She always had such a great outlook on life, full of fun....truly enjoyed everyday!

This is a photo from my baby album....I was 3 weeks old. I was (after 18 years of marraige) an only child. Not spoiled by any means (although I am sure some people would say I was..hehe).

My mom was a stay at home mom.....and I enjoyed that so much! She was always there for me. I can remember she always had a "schedule" to go by...Monday was laundry, and when the weather was nice, she would hang the clothes out on her clothesline, Tuesday was ironing, Wednesday was kind of a "carefree" day...for whatever needed to be done, Thursday was another laundry day, like towels, bedding, and Friday was clean the whole house day. The weekends we always did family things....or my parents would be working in the yard.

My moms favorite thing to do was sit at the kitchen table and look at her back yard and watch the birds and the squirrels arrive after they knew she had put peanuts out (for the squirrels and bluejays) and seed and bread crumbs for the birds. She would even make popcorn for them....:) she loved nature!

She was a lovely lady and I am so glad SHE was MY mom...:) I miss her all the time....but know in my heart she is watching over me and is by my side all the time.

She was a wonderful "gram". When our daughter Melissa was born....she was the happiest "gram in the whole world"!!!! If she did not spoil me....she certainly spoiled Melissa...:) But that is what grandchildren are for!

She patiently taught me how to crochet, knit and sew. My dad was an artist....not the kind that sold in galleries...but could draw things wonderfully! My parents taught me a lot of skills....and I am so very thankful!

So mom....Happy Mothers Day....You were the BEST! And Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful mommies...enjoy your very special day on Sunday, May 9th

Color {my inspiration}

Color is and always been my inspiration for any kind of project I do. Whether I am drawing or crocheting....if I see a color combo that I love....I can always think of something to do with it. The other day while my husband and I were shopping at a hardware store I saw these paint sample cards....and right away starting taking some for ideas on color combos for my hats!

Spring Blossoms....

I looked out my kitchen window this afternoon and with the rain we have been having the last couple of days...the blossoms on our crabapple tree have been falling quite fast. I had to take a picture of them laying on the ground...they look so pretty laying amongst the blades of grass and the hosta's. Looks like large snowflakes!

New "homes" being built {this time of year}

This is the time of year when you see a lot of "new homes" being built. Seems like every year a robin will build her "new home" in this spot on our deck. It must seem very protected to them. However it is the area by the steps going to and from our back deck....so the robin flitters away quite often. It is fun watching her build her new home for her little ones, and even more fun seeing those little ones appear and start chirrping....:)

This is my favorite time of year! Everything just starting to grow and make things so pretty! The grass is a lovely shade of green, the lilacs are starting to bloom, the plants are starting to pop up, the tulips are blooming and the flowering trees are at their finest and showing off their delicate blooms. A fresh new beginning. I enjoy hearing the birds all waking up and singing their morning songs and the toads in our pond chirrping up a storm...:) Just makes you feel so very blessed and have such a good feeling....hope you all are enjoying your "spring time days".
